Dark Chocolate Orange MARBLE Cake

It has started to look a lot like Christmas. The Festivities and Celebrations have started to sink in. And I baked a devilish marbled dark chocolate and orange cake. The plate was leaked clean in minutes but the hangover remained long.

No Christmas is complete without a glass of milk for our Dear Santa to come and grant our wish.

What You Need For The Cake:

  • 200 grams all purpose flour
  • 50 grams good quality cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 grams powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp orange essence
  • 1 tea cup oil/butter in room temperature
  • 1 tea cup orange juice
  • Some lemon zest

Steps To Bake :

  • Preheat your oven at 180 degree centigrade for 12 minutes.
  • Sieve all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda separately and mix everything together. Our dry mixture is ready.
  • Next beat butter/oil and eggs together. Add orange juice and orange essence to it.
  • Slowly put 1 tbsp of the mixture and mix into the wet mixture.
  • Repeat the process till you fold in all the dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  • Beat the whole batter for 7 to 8 minutes using electric beater or using a hand blender. Using a hand blender will take longer time.
  • Grease a baking tray and pour 80 percent of the batter into it.
  • Add cocoa powder to the remaining batter and pour it in a random fashion over the remaining cake.
  • Let the batter rest for a minute to remove any bubbles. Tap from sides if any.
  • Bake the cake for 40 minutes or till done.
  • Do a knife test to see that the cake is baked well.
  • Let the cake cool down completely before you de-mould it.
  • Spread some Nutella Spread or chocolate sauce. Decorate with your favourite chocolate and fresh oranges.
